I don't know if I need to see Snyder's nerd porn anime video game movie. I mean, don't get me wrong, I want to be excited about an action movie that draws from sources like Gilliam and Carroll, but between Snyder's failure to deliver with Watchmen and the fact that this film seems to have sprung out of the mind of a sugar-addled 13 year old...well, I might have to pass.
Which means that I'll probably see it, but I'll come in with reservations.
that is false, sir. he did, in fact, deliver with Watchmen and you'd do better to acknowledge it.
Seeing as I absolutely loved 300, which is a film that gets better with every viewing, and found the Watchmen adaptation to be as solid is it could have been, I am certainly excited for this. It does have moments that make it look like it may be terrible, but it has even more moments that look totally badass. Thanks for sharing, though.
agcrump: Seeing as how I judge a movie directly based on how many dragons there are, I can't say I go with your reservations.
Danielle: Go home.
Matt: It has the potential to be so-awful-it's-awesome, and you're welcome.
I see this and I think of Ripley :)
Great, another overstuffed cartoon with human faces that pop up every once in a while.
Snyder delivered with Watchmen in the sense that he successfully and faithfully recreated imagery out of the film and literally brought the comic to life, but only in that sense. On all of the important points, the film fails. Snyder doesn't seem to be so interested in asking any of the questions Moore asks in his graphic novel as he is in depicting the iconic imagery, but that's only half-- or even a third-- of why the novel is so great.
If you're going to adapt a quintessential property like Watchmen, you have to consider everything. Snyder doesn't consider everything.
All of that said I really like Snyder as a filmmaker, and again-- I'll probably end up seeing Sucker Punch. But given how Watchmen let me down I'm refusing to let myself get worked up over it ahead of time.
