Thoughts on The Birds

-Considered Hitchcock's last masterpiece, and for very good reason.

-Every time I think about the title, I always think of the Edgar Allan Poe poem 'The Bells'. Specifically, a dramatic reading of it by who I think was Helen Mirren, that I heard in English class last year.

-Awesome effects, good sirs.

-I never want to go outside ever again.

Birds did for pigeons what Jaws did for sharks. It isn't my favourite Hitchcock film but it's still great.

I just never understood what these birds were all going crazy for. But I guess that's the whole art of this film.

I wonder if there are people who refuse to go outside after watching this.

Love this movie - I'm sure it's a tad hokey by today's standards in terms of the "fear" factor, but I still think that monkey-bars scene is awfully chilling and brilliantly shot.

This movie made me hate birds (except owls [fave], eagles, vultures), especially seagulls. That or because seagulls pooped on my pizza back in middle school. I'm still bitter about it.
