Thoughts on Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

-In my humble opinion, I do not get why this movie is so critically acclaimed. It is perfectly ok, but I doubt it earned the notoriety it has received internationally. While certainly as misogynistic as its reputation would suggest, it is hardly the breakthrough crime thriller of the century.

-Meanwhile, the main character, Lisbeth Salander, played to misanthropic perfection by Noome-whatever, kicks so much ass the entire male race, past present or future, collectively grabbed their dicks and winced.

-I love the originally translated title, Men Who Hate Women. It is so fucking appropriate.

-My sister thanks Netflix.

I rented this out tonight. Haven't watched it yet.

I don't hate women. Does this mean I won't like this film?

No, it just means there will be several uncomfortable scenes for you.

I haven't seen it yet, but I wonder how the Hollywood version will compare.

So, the title "Men Who Hate Women" - It basically does what it says on the tin?

I agree. I saw it, liked it but then read all these five star reviews I don't understand. I liked the performances but thought the narrative of it was a bit underwhelming to be honest.

I saw this in theaters not too long ago. Loved it, the rape scene was difficult to go through, however.

I've heard that Brad Pitt was mulling over the lead part in the American version of the film, and that made my heart hurt. Pitt's a good actor, but he is wrong, so so wrong, for the part. I shudder to think who would be cast as Lisbeth -- maybe Natalie Portman? She's not quite emo/disaffected enough.

Also? I hate how America always has to remake perfectly good foreign films.

Okay - I'm not going to read this now because I haven't yet seen it. For all I know, you hated it! But I just watched someone watch this last night, and the reactions were priceless. So all I know about it is that it's full of jolts and gross-out moments.

Is it just me or does that dude look completely and utterly stoned in the poster?

Considering the talent involved in the American remake David Fincher and Daniel Craig I'll see that one instead.

This book trilogy is huge in Scandinavia were I come from, been on the bestseller lists forever.

However, I think it's a little disturbing that people watch this gruesome movie/read these books for entertainment. Not sure I like any of the characters.

Director of 'Men who hate women' Niels Arden Oplev has made another film I prefer, the thought-provoking "Worlds Apart" (2008)

I was disappointed too, great performances and the first half, focussing on the private lives of Lisbeth and Blomqvist is good, but when the thriller element kicks in it fails horribly bing both utterly predictable in it's final reveal and utterly unhinted to in the culprit. When you only know who the killer is because they've just attacked the hero it's a fail as far as I'm concerned.
